The queen’s English is going to the dogs. Nowadays people talk utter nonsense which they call Hinglish, Manglish, Tamlish, banglish and all the eeesh! As a student of English Honors I find it very maddening to hear such balderdash that goes in the name of adjustment. The interview with Dr Hanif was a plethora of mistakes.
He started with , “It is not in my nature to ever support or involve in such activity.”
What does he mean? He could just say I am not into terrorism.
“That’s what I mean to say.”
“That’s what I meant is enough.”
“I’d be very keen to see my little angel.” He has not seen her at all in fact he was going to see her so just say I am keen to see my … or I want to see my…..”
“Never imagined even in my remotest corner of my brain(remember Kapil Dev)” For heaven’s sake why so many words, just say, “I never thought.”
Then again, “I would be labeled with such a defaming thing.”for“I would be defamed.”
These are just a few noteworthy mistakes .We should be careful not to use unnecessary words and confuse the other person. Then to top it all he also had a recent baby instead of his wife giving birth recently.!
Then of course people those who are here (People who are ..)and until and unless you don’t analyse (three negatives)( until and unless you analyse)walk slower , ( walk slowly)drive quicker, ( drive slowly)I expect you at about nine , ( at nine)I had no idea the house was that small ( the house was as small as that) are common everyday wrong usage .
Narendra Modi in his interview in Times now said “the people have a full flavour about me” Is he the latest dhokla on the menu?
If I start on the pronunciation and diction of people it would be unending so more of itIf I start on the pronunciation and diction of people it would be unending so more of it next time. One for the road.. by Lalu yadav ji.
